What is Mental Health?

Mental Health
and the need for services.
The service video presentations have been developed with the direction of the Keys for Networking, Inc. Youth Leadership Council. As recipients of publicly funded mental health services, the youth define the vignettes, from their experience, what makes up effective service, and what has been their personal experience with poor service. The vignettes are based on real experience of Kansas youth; the actors are youth from the council, Keys staff and providers from the public mental health system. We thank Dr. Scott Whitney, Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist, Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center; Sharon Freelon, therapist, Wyandot Mental Health Center; Eric Pommier, Attendant Care/Case Manager, Pawnee Mental Health Center; Bobbi Rine, Parent Support Specialist, Southwest Guidance Mental Health Center - all are Keys for Networking, Inc. 2003 Oscar Recipients.
This project is supported with funds from the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, University of Kansas School of Social Welfare, and federal Title IVE. The project defines medicaid funded mental health services in Kansas. These service definitions are designed to accompany the Kansas Family Satisfaction Survey.
