The program's mission is to offer families the security of belonging to a group of caring individuals with similar goals, challenges, and needs. Parents are informed as to the availability of resources and services throughout the state and receive maximum use of such services. Families Together provides a variety of activities for parents and family members of children/youth with disabilities to encourage change toward positive expectations. Kansas Advocacy and Protective Services - Kansas Advocacy And Protective Services, or KAPS, is one of many federally funded protection and advocacy organizations, located throughout the United States which were established to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. Kansas Advocacy & Protective Services, Inc. (KAPS) is a private, nonprofit corporation, independent of state government and providers of disability services; KAPS works with individuals with disabilities to protect and advance their human, legal, and service rights. Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services - Mental Health Care Policy National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI Kansas) - NAMI Kansas is a state affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. They provide support, advocacy and education dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals affected by brain disorders that manifest as mental illness. They are committed to collaborating with our colleagues in the mental health system to ensure the development and implementation of appropriate public policy and equitable distribution of public funds. They suppport and encourage medical research relating to brain disorders and they participate in community research programs.
