Karen
Brantingham
is currently working as a Reading Specialist for Topeka Public Schools.
She has been teaching for 8 years. She received her Bachelors Degree
in Science from Kansas State University. She received her Masters
Degree in Education from Washburn with a specialist in reading.
Barbara
Brown
is currently a special program assistant teacher working with students
kindergarten through 6th grade. She has worked as a kindergarten
teacher and a Preschool Director. She has a Bachelor of Science
in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.
She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Education.
Shelle
Deitrick-Werner
is currently working as an occupational therapist between two Shawnee
County, Kansas school districts. She has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas. She has worked
as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for 12 ½ years at the
Capper Foundation and the remaining time on school contracts. She
has worked with infant through high school age groups focusing on
motor skills through assistive technology issues.
Debbie
Edwards
is a second grade teacher with 29 years of experience. She has a
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Bachelors Degree in Elementary
Education and a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities.
Currently, Debbie is pursuing an endorsement in English Language
Learners. In addition, Debbie is on the HIPPY Advisory Board at
Keys.
Jackie
Elliott
is a School Psychologist currently working in the Shawnee Heights
District. Jackie has 25 years experience and a Ph.D. from the University
of Kansas with program emphasis in Human Growth and Development.
She has also worked in the Kansas City and Topeka school districts
as well as for the Menninger Foundation Learning Disabilities Center
and Developmental Preschool.
Janet
Finan
has been a paraprofessional for 13 years. She has taught in a behavior
disorder class for 5 years and is currently starting her 9th year
in Early Childhood Education. She is the mother of 2 sons who are
now 19 and 21. She also had her own home daycare for 6 years with
children ranging from 6 months to 6 years. She has 2 years of college
at Kansas State University and Washburn University.
Tracie
Inman
currently teaches Early Childhood Special Education. She has been
teaching in this field for 7 years. Before that she taught at
a low income preschool for one year. She has a Bachelor’s
Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree
in Early Childhood Special Education. She has one son who is 13
years old and has Downs Syndrome.
Lisa
Miller-Best
has been teaching early childhood special education with the public
school system for 8 years. Before this she taught preschool for
one year in a low income area. She has a Bachelor’s Degree
in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood.
She has a Master’s Degree in Interrelated Special Education
Early Childhood through 9th grade. She has a 2 ½ year old
at home.
Sandra
Mitchell
is currently a kindergarten teacher. This was her first year teaching.
She graduated from Washburn University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s
in Elementary Education. She is currently working on her Master’s
in Education.
Sherri
Monhollon is
currently directing a large preschool with an enrollment of 165
children ages 2 ½ to 6. She has been director for 7 years
and previously taught in the Early Childhood field for 11 years.
She has a Bachelor’s of Education Degree in Kindergarten
through 12th grade Physical Education. She has three children
with ages
ranging from 5-11.
Lois
Robertson
is currently a Kindergarten teacher. She has taught Kindergarten
for 32 years. Her educational background consists of a master
in
Elementary Education and a second master in Special Education.
She has taught all 32 years at the kindergarten level. This year
will
be her 33rd year in teaching kindergarten and will have some
children with special needs in her classroom. She has volunteered
teaching children ages 4-6 at her church and in community services.
She has a daughter who is 16. She has also taught children with
special needs and that have multiple handicaps.
